Nanoindentation characteristics on polycarbonate polymer film
نویسندگان
چکیده
The nanoindentation experiment was carried out to estimate nanomechanical characteristics of polycarbonate polymer films. Hardness, effective elastic modulus and contact stress–strain rate curve were obtained. The results showed that the effective elastic modulus and the hardness decreased as the applied load was increased. As the hold time was increased, the effective elastic modulus and the hardness also decreased. Furthermore, decreasing the loading rate also decreased the effective elastic modulus and the hardness. A power-law creep equation was obtained. When taking a log coordinate to the equation, the contact stress increased as the contact strain rate increased and has a linear appearance. q 2004 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Nanomechanical characterization of polymer using atomic force microscopy and nanoindentation
The nanomechanical characteristics of polycarbonate (PC) polymer were investigated by atomic force microscope (AFM) and nanoindentation. Scratching, wear properties, hardness and Young’s modulus were obtained. The relationships between scribing feed and speed, surface depth and roughness and applied load were also investigated. The results indicated that as the applied load was increased, the f...

Objective This study investigated the wear resistance of injection-molded thermoplastic denture base resins using nanoindentation instrument. Materials and methods Six injection-molded thermoplastic denture base resins (two polyamides, two polyesters, one polycarbonate, one polymethylmethacrylate [PMMA]) and a PMMA conventional heat-polymerized denture-based polymer control were tested. Elastic...
متن کاملMechanical Properties Measurement of Nanowires Anisotropic Conductive Film by Nanoindentation Technique
As microelectronic packaging industry grows explosively, high I/O density interconnects and reliable packaging design are recognized as the main concern of the IC packaging industry. Hence, in this investigation, a novel type of anisotropic conductive film (ACF) composed of cobalt nanowires and polymer was developed and used in place of conventional solder bumps for ultra-fine pitch interconnec...
متن کاملOptimization of Optical Properties of Polycarbonate Film with Thiol Gold-Nanoparticles
A new nanostructured composite film based on thiol gold nanoparticles dispersed in polycarbonate and prepared by evaporating a solution of 1-dodecanthiol gold nanoparticles and polycarbonate was developed for applications as optical lenses. Lenses with superior mechanical properties, coloring and UV ray absorption and with the same transparency as the matrix were obtained. The supporting highly...
متن کاملEffect of bias voltage on structural and mechanical characteristics of diamond-like carbon thin film applied by ion beam deposition
This study, investigates the effect of bias voltage on structural changes of diamond-like carbon thin film created by ion beam deposition is investigated. For this purpose, the bias voltage in the values of 0 V, -50 V, -100 V and -150 V on the AA5083 aluminum alloy was considered. Raman spectroscopy was used to evaluate structural. Influence of the bias voltage on the thickness and roughness of...
